Individual Eligibility for Abu Dhabi Court Marriage:
- Age: Both individuals must be at least 18 years old.
- Consent: Both individuals must freely agree to the marriage.
- Marital Status: Both partners must confirm that they are not currently married to anyone else.
- Identification: Valid passports for both individuals. Emirates ID, if applicable.
- Nationality: UAE nationals are not eligible for this. All other nationalities may apply.
- Religion: Open to all religions.
Documents Needed For Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage
To tie the knot through civil marriage in Abu Dhabi Court, these documents are normally required:
- Passports of the couple (copy and original).
- A completed marriage application form (available from the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court website).
- Death certificate. (if widowed), issued in your home country or the respective embassy.
- Divorce certificate. (if divorced), issued in your home country or the respective embassy.
- Optional: Prenuptial Agreement (available on the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court website).
Civil Marriage Process
To begin the process of a civil marriage request in Abu Dhabi, we need to submit the necessary documents along with a completed marriage application form. The couple may also include a prenuptial agreement if desired. Once all documents are submitted, authorities will review the request. Upon approval, you can proceed to pay the required fees and select your wedding date.
Civil Marriage Ceremony
The ceremony takes place at the Civil Family Court within the ADJD main court building during specified hours. Couples exchange vows and rings, invite guests, and take photos. Afterward, the marriage certificate will be issued within a few days based on your chosen service type.
Civil Marriages Service Types & Fees
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department offers two types of civil marriage services:
- Standard Civil Marriage: Scheduled by the court within 2 to 3 weeks, and the service fee is AED 300.
- Express Marriage: Allows couples to choose the date within 2 to 3 days, and the service fee is AED 2,500.
Note: Additional fees shall apply when submitting a marriage/prenuptial agreement.
